Hello, little one. It's Mumma. I have a story for you.

It is a bright, quiet morning. We are sitting under a tall palm tree, near the village pond. The grass is soft and cool. The water is still.

Up on a long palm leaf, a little bird is busy. He is a Papa weaver bird. He is making a nest for the little ones who will come.

Let us watch him... slowly... softly...

He flies down to the tall grass. He pulls out one long, thin strand. Then he flies back up with it, like a green ribbon in his beak.

He loops it around the leaf. He tucks it in. He pulls it snug. And as he works, he hums. Hmm-hmm-hmm... chee-chee... hmm-hmm-hmm...

Strand by strand, the nest grows.

Down he goes again. Up he comes again. One more strand... and one more... and one more. Over and under, in and out. There is no hurry in him. Only care.

Then a breeze blows across the pond. Whoosh... One strand slips loose. It floats down, down, and lands softly on the water.

Papa bird looks at it for a moment. He does not fuss. He does not give up. He flies to the grass and picks a new strand. And he begins again, humming his little song.

Strand by strand, the nest grows.

We come back to watch every morning. Slowly, the nest takes shape. First, a little ring. Then a round roof over it.

One morning, a Mumma weaver bird flies in. She hops all around the nest. She peeps inside. She gives it a little tug. Then she chirps softly. She likes it! She smiles a happy bird smile.

Now Papa bird weaves a round, soft room. Then a long doorway at the bottom, so everything inside stays dry and safe. Together, the two birds make it cosy.

The evening breeze comes. The nest sways... gently... left and right... like a tiny cradle in the sky. The two birds rest at the door. Papa bird hums his soft song once more.

Little one, I am making a nest for you too. A slow breath is one strand. A soft song is one strand. A kind word, a calm walk, a story at night... each one is a strand.

There is no hurry. Only care.

Strand by strand, the nest grows.

Let us breathe in... and breathe out... and sway softly with the nest...
